Living to Dine, or Dining to Live

Let's step into the Wayback Machine for a bit and look at some work (mostly) completed before I started this blog.

Downstairs, we have the living and dining rooms, connected to each other (and to the main hall) by Moorish-style archways. When we first moved in, these were dingy, had bumpy 'popcorn' walls and ceiling, stinky blue carpet, mismatched baseboards, and missing quarter round mouldings.  We repainted with a Behr Eggshell White, scraped down the dining room, pulled up the carpet, and had the floors refinished. Some of the 'popcorn' remains, and we still have to replace the baseboards and get matching quarter round, but fortunately it's still overall much better!

Here are some before and after pictures for your viewing enjoyment.  First, the living room:

AFTER: Another shot from a different angle...

It's amazing how much 'warmer' the room appears when you replace 'icy' blues and whites with lots of earth tones, isn't it?

Then there's the dining room:

The remaining big projects in these two rooms are to take care of the baseboards, add a door frame to the bathroom entrance, and get a nice antique dining table and chairs. More on that news as it develops.

More pics next time!
