The downstairs bathroom is making some rapid progress now, at least as far as the 'guts' of it all. The crawl space was insulated, temperature controlled heat 'tape' added to the new pipes, and a switch-controlled heater added to the same area. The shorted-out wiring was replaced and put on a new circuit. The floor frame was rebuilt and reinforced under the tub, and the replacement floor and concrete board added so we can start tiling. And so on. Below are a few pictures of its current state of affairs, which we couldn't have done without our awesome handymen. Even if the updates did cost us extra beyond the required repairs that the insurance covered, it was well worth it!
Now we're getting close to the 'hands-on' remodeling work that we'll be doing ourselves, so you can expect more detailed posts in the near future - especially once we start picking out tile and fixtures!
