A Hole Lot of Bathroom

The weather has warmed up (mostly), and our handyman and his helpers were finally able to start working on the bathroom last week!

Because this room used to be an outside porch, the original remodel had eliminated the height difference between the inside floor and the porch floor. However, this meant that there was a second floor several inches down from the first one, effectively eliminating the only little bit of crawl space we had. So, bad news is that both floors had to come up - but the good news is that it gives them more room to work, and work more effectively. I'll start posting more photos as changes are made over the next few days/weeks. Here are the first:

Aside from fixing the pipes, all those concrete blocks around the edges need to have their holes filled in. This will help with the insulation, which we'll need a lot of.

Sadly, there was no buried treasure. The only interesting bit of trash that turned up under the floor was what appears to have been part of a broken chair. (Or possibly some exterior trim, but I think a chair is more likely.)

That's it for now, but I'll post more as everything develops!
